Virgin Atlantic has recently decided to suspend its sole route to mainland China, marking the end of 25 years of service.
The route links London (LHR) and Shanghai Pudong (PVG) and the final flight is scheduled to take off on October 25, 2024. The airline told Bloomberg that it has decided to end the route because of high operational costs and geopolitical tensions, as the flight is not able to fly over Russia due to sanctions on Russia.
The route is currently operated by the 787-9.
